Terms of Service

Membership in Homeschool South Dakota (HSD) is offered on an annual basis at the posted rate (currently $25/year). By completing a membership registration and submitting payment through our secure payment processor (Stripe), you agree to these Terms of Service in full.

Eligibility

Membership is open to families and individuals who are actively homeschooling or who support the mission of Christian homeschooling in South Dakota. HSD reserves the right to decline or revoke membership at its discretion if a member's conduct is found to be inconsistent with the organization's values and mission.

Renewal

Memberships are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Memberships do not auto-renew. You will receive a reminder notification before your membership expires. Continued access to member benefits requires an active membership in good standing.

Member Benefits

Benefits associated with membership (discounted conference registration, legislative advocacy updates, resource access, etc.) are available only to members with a current, paid membership. Benefits are subject to change; HSD will notify members of any material changes.

Annual Membership

Membership fees are generally non-refundable once payment has been processed and membership access has been granted. If you believe a charge was made in error, please contact us within 14 days of the transaction at info@homeschoolsd.org and we will review your request on a case-by-case basis.

Conference Registration

Conference registration fees may be refunded in full if a cancellation request is received at least 30 days before the conference date. Requests received 15–29 days before the event are eligible for a 50% refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made fewer than 15 days before the event, except in cases of documented medical emergency.

Other Events

Refund eligibility for individual events varies. The refund policy applicable to each event will be stated at the time of registration. Please review those terms carefully before completing your purchase.

By registering for any HSD event (including but not limited to the Annual Homeschool Conference, co-op fairs, or legislative days), you agree to the following conditions:

• You will abide by all event rules, codes of conduct, and venue requirements.
• HSD may photograph or record events for organizational use. By attending, you consent to the possibility of appearing in such materials. If you object, please notify us in writing before the event.
• HSD is not responsible for personal property loss, injury, or other damages incurred at events, except where required by applicable law.
• Events may be postponed or cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., severe weather, facility issues). HSD will communicate changes promptly and will issue refunds or credits as appropriate.

Registration information is used solely to manage event logistics and communicate event-related updates. It is not sold or shared with third parties outside of event-specific vendor and workshop coordination.

HSD collects personal information (name, address, email, family details) solely for the purpose of administering membership, processing event registrations, and communicating with members. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Payment Data

All financial transactions are processed by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. HSD does not store credit card numbers or sensitive financial data on its own systems. Please review Stripe's Privacy Policy for details on how payment data is handled.

Email Communications

By becoming a member or subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to receive email communications from HSD regarding membership status, events, legislative updates, and organizational news. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link provided in each message. Transactional emails related to your membership or event registration cannot be opted out of while your account is active.

All content on the Homeschool South Dakota website — including text, images, logos, resource guides, and legislative summaries — is the property of HSD or used with permission. Content is provided for personal, non-commercial, educational use only.

Permitted Uses

• Viewing and printing content for personal or family educational use.
• Sharing links to HSD pages for non-commercial informational purposes.
• Quoting brief excerpts with proper attribution to Homeschool South Dakota.

Prohibited Uses

• Reproducing, distributing, or publishing HSD content in any form without prior written permission.
• Using HSD content for commercial purposes or AI/machine-learning training datasets.
• Scraping, automated crawling, or systematic downloading of site content.
• Misrepresenting HSD's positions, content, or affiliation in any public forum.

Violations of these terms may result in membership revocation and/or legal action. To request permission for a specific use, please contact us.
