Our History
Homeschool South Dakota (HSD) is dedicated to the cultivation, protection, and promotion of Christian homeschooling and the homeschool community in the state of South Dakota.
HSD was formerly known as The Education Alliance of Christian Homeschoolers in South Dakota (TEACHSD) and was originally founded as SECHE in 2002 by like-minded home educators who desired a group where their belief and acknowledgment of God was an integral part of the organization.
We are proud to be the officially recognized state organization by the National Alliance of Christian Home Education Leadership.

Statement of Faith
Agreement with our statement of faith is mandatory for all volunteers and leadership in the organization.
The Bible is the inspired, infallible, written Word of God and its 66 books constitute His complete and final revelation to man. It is the sole rule of faith for the believer. The Bible in its original autograph is without error in whole and in part, including theological concepts as well as geographical and historical details.
God has existed from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ was God come in human flesh being fully God and fully man, except without sin.
Apart from Christ, all men are in violation of God's righteous requirements and His holy character both by nature and act, and are therefore under His wrath and just condemnation. The central purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ was to demonstrate God's all holy character that He alone is just and the one who justifies. Jesus Christ alone paid the penalty for man's sin through His substitutionary death on the cross, the successful accomplishment of which was attested to by His subsequent visible, bodily resurrection. Salvation is God's free gift to the sinner. By God's grace alone, this gift must be responded to by individual faith alone, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone.
God established marriage as the exclusive lifetime covenant of union between one biological man and one biological woman. It is His unique gift that echoes the union of Christ and His church, and is the ideal environment that He has ordained for procreation and for the rearing of children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Board & Leadership
HSD is governed by a volunteer board of active homeschool parents committed to serving South Dakota families.
Board President
Oversees organization strategy, legislative partnerships, and annual conference planning.
Vice President
Coordinates membership programs, co-op directory, and outreach to new homeschool families.
Secretary / Treasurer
Manages organizational records, finances, and NACHE affiliation reporting.
Legislative Liaison
Monitors SD legislature and mobilizes HSD members when homeschool freedoms need defending.
Events Coordinator
Organizes the annual conference, 605 Prom, Track & Field Day, and other HSD events.
Communications Director
Manages the HSD newsletter, website, social media, and member communications.
